Mitchel John Boiser was swept to the presidency of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
(IBP), Bohol chapter, in yesterday's election, prevailing over two other contenders-
-retired assistant provincial prosecutor Joselito Estrera and Lawyer Floriendo
Columnas. Boiser
got 73 votes, while Columnas got 37. Estrera, who later backed out got 20.
Over 100 good-standing Boholano lawyers attended the IBP election and General

'Bayong'
poised to replace plastics By

TALIBON-Taking
off from this town for the Bohol scope, the Department of Trade and Industry launched
on Tuesday the Bayong Development Program in barangay San Jose to revive the Filipino
weaving tradition and reinvent the image of native woven bags, known as "bayong"
or "bawjot", in an attempt to minimize the dominance of plastic and
fabric bags in the market. Gateway
East Inc. Chief Executive Officer Cesar Cueto, the resource speaker during the
launching program, explained that continued use of plastic materials would lead
local government units into spending much on landfills to contain the non-biodegradable
garbage from plastic materials, and the possible loss of market for local products
